The Watch That Took More Than 80 Years to Make

In 1944, Aeschbach developed a prototype aviation watch intended for submission to the German Air Ministry (Reichsluftfahrtministerium, or RLM). The design embodied the functional principles demanded of military aviation timepieces of the era: exceptional legibility, robust construction, and reliability under operational conditions.

80 years in the making

the Aeschbach RLM

In 1944, the prototype was created. The chaos and destruction of the final years of the Second World War meant the watch never entered production.

The surviving concepts, drawings, and historical references would remain dormant for decades.

Today, the Aeschbach RLM finally brings that vision to life — combining historically inspired design with modern materials, contemporary manufacturing, and precision engineering. Some projects simply take time.

Testimonials

I gave my father one of these pocket watches for his birthday, and he was absolutely thrilled with it. I would 100% recommend it if you're looking for something a little different from the usual.

Gerrit van den Akker, Kaldenkirchen, Germany

I’m extremely satisfied with my Luftwaffe watch with its Swiss movement. It’s remarkably accurate and typically gains or loses only about two to three seconds per day, often even less. It’s definitely a watch I would buy again without hesitation. The sapphire crystal is also a major advantage in everyday use, especially compared with acrylic glass.

Thomas Stucki, Thun, Switzerland

I bought the Aeschbach 1950s Pattern 25-Jewel Automatic shortly before Christmas last year and have been extremely pleased with it. It has taken a few knocks while skiing and spent plenty of time in the sea, yet it has performed flawlessly throughout. Considering the alternatives I looked at were two or three times more expensive, this watch offers exceptional value and has been worth every penny.
